For the year ofli and Arch Bishop Desmond Tutu were immortalised on coins during 2005 and 2006 re 2007 the South African mint has released a range of Protea Coins that will probably prove to be the best series of coins ever produced in South Africa. This series depicts the images of former presidents Nelson Mandela and FW de Klerk. These two icons were the worthy joint recipients of the Nobel peace prize. This is the last group of coins in this series as Chief Albert Luthuli respectively. Due to a series of unfortunate setbacks availability of these coins have been delayed, which has even increased the demand and their rarity value.
