From 1892 to 1900 president Paul Kruger of the Zuid Afrikaansche Republiek issued half pond and one pond coins. The image of President Paul Kruger was on the obverse while the reverse depicted the National Coat of Arms of the Zuid- Afrikaansche Republiek.
The half pond was only produced between 1892 and 1897 and the “Kruger Pond from 1892 and 1900. Variation of design, known as the single shaft and double shaft were produced and vary in value.
The Veld Pond was minted in the “veld” and is a very sought after numismatic item. Many different forgeries of these coins exist and buyers must confirm authenticity before buying a “Veld Pond.
